Mystique is a newer luxury high-rise in the Pelican Bay area of Naples, Florida. When it was determined that noise from a rooftop mechanical yard was going to impact penthouse residents using their pool deck verandas, the AIL Sound Walls team was tagged to design and supply a cladding panel solution, using our lightweight, PVC Silent Protector (Absorptive) sound barrier wall system.
Possibly our most complex project to date, the crowded mechanical yard’s concrete block walls were very complicated, with many obstacles to accommodate — varying wall heights, multiple turns and angles, various penetrations, HVAC pipe brackets and doorways, to name a few. Challenging, yes, but not a problem for our nimble and flexible AIL Sound Walls system.
Sound walls had to accomodate very high coastal wind loads
Due to the complexity of this project, multiple site visits were required before design, and before and during construction to ensure the installation went as smoothly as possible. The AIL Sound Walls team laid out the entire barrier by taking field measurements and marking all the obstructions we needed to work around. The extremely high wind load factor of this 24-story coastal installation also required a tighter than usual post spacing. We also modified the post brackets to make the installation go faster for our partners.
In addition, the construction crane had been removed before our project timeframe, so all of our material had to be custom-bundled to fit into the construction elevator in order to get it up to the roof.
We provided constant support for the General Contractor, Coastal Construction, and the Subcontractor, AA Stucco & Drywall, throughout the installation. Positive feedback was received across the board — from the owner and all of our project partners.
