Like most of suburban Houston, the Pasadena Independent School District is expanding to keep pace with the area’s growth. Many of the District’s new schools back onto residences so they need to keep those mechanical yards as quiet as possible.
Initially, the District had been building concrete block walls around this equipment but that only reflected the noise off the school walls — making it even louder. However, once District officials learned more about sound-absorbing Silent Protector from AIL Sound Walls, they were quick to give it a high mark and assign it to their new Sullivan Middle School. They also have plans for it in three other projects.
Noise control enclosure installation had to integrate with existing concrete slab
In this case, we were required to attach to an existing slab and could not use our more common drilled shaft foundation method. From the outset, we worked directly with the District, their architect and the contractor to optimize the design, attachment and installation. Our cost-effective solution simplified the install to bolt onto the slab — significantly reducing install costs.
Our post-project follow-up confirmed that the District and their local neighbors are more than happy with the absorptive barrier’s performance.
