‘New fence’ keeps the peace around Drummondville Airport, Québec, Canada

June 4, 2018

Although the main objective on this project was to make a visual separation between the Aéroport de Drummondville and the surrounding homes, nobody was complaining when they realized what a great sound barrier the ‘new fence’ around the Aéroport was. That’s because this handsome ‘new fence’ was actually an AIL Sound Wall.

Florida Walmart rooftop sound barriers satisfy all parties

The AIL Sound Walls team was selected to design and supply three, three-sided rooftop mechanical equipment surrounds for a new Walmart under construction next to a residential area in Kissimmee, Florida. This was our eighth project for Walmart, but our first rooftop application for them.

Sound barrier wall integrates with retaining wall to save space on site

AIL Sound Walls Team was selected to design and supply a 1700' sound barrier for a residential project bordering a commuter rail line in College Park, Maryland. The developer, Woodlawn Development Group, was keen to maximize the useable building space, so this project featured different foundation/footing scenarios in different sections to help with that.

Innovative slab footings slip into shallow, narrow site along Highway 91 in Richmond, BC

A new Richmond neighbourhood bordered BC’s busy Highway 91 and an effective sound mitigation solution was needed. But, there were just two problems. The site, between the highway and a steep drop off to a parking lot below, was extremely narrow. And, it could only accommodate a 2' footing depth due to a buried membrane covering contaminated soils.

As part of their I-75 Rouge River Project, aka the Detroit-Downriver Connection, The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) needed a half-mile of bridge-mounted noise barrier wall on the southbound I-75 over Goddard Road and the Sexton Kilfoil Drain in Allen Park.

Superstore sound barrier doubles as retaining wall in London, Ontario

The Real Atlantic Superstore (Choice Properties REIT) needed to replace an existing poor quality concrete sound barrier wall that had deteriorated from freeze-thaw cycles. The original wall also acted as a bit of a retaining wall and, not having been designed for that, was leaning quite badly.

Starbucks drive-thru sound barrier making a Grande difference

When a new Starbucks went up next to an apartment building in a growing area of Winnipeg, Manitoba, ground floor residents were concerned about the noise from Drive-Thru customers ordering their Triple, Grande, Half-Sweet, Non-Fat, Caramel Macchiatos. Clearly, an effective sound barrier was on the menu.
